sunday is sex and the city day

Everything is vintage/thrifted/gift/my moms
First off can we talk how great this coat is??? I found this baby at a garage sale a whole back for SEVEN DOLLARS. The lady told me how this used to be her party jacket in the 70s and it had seenany things, and she has happy to see it go to a home that shows it even more new things.
Ugh, I apologize for not posting a lot recently. It's because of school, school, and SCHOOL. Where do I find the time to do things I want without over-exerting myself and getting all of my responsibilities out of the way??? I could drop out, but education is way too important to me. I feel like this is a struggle that every teenager faces at least once in their life, and even though it's a pretty simple process, it seems like it will never end. How can I begin a new chapter if this one keeps going on? Last week I took my ACT (a test that decides if you're good enough to attend the college of yor dreams), and it was probably the worst experience of my academic career, but at least it's over and done with (hopefully). On the bright side I've decided that I want to major in fashion merchandising, because it has everything I love involved within the subject. I'm still not sure what to major in, but I know it will all lay itself out when I get to that point in my life. For the past few days I've realized that I don't write/type enough on this blog. I always have plenty of pretty photos, but from now on I'm going to try and write more. Now that I've decided this, I just have to keep at it and commit. You could probably tell from the last couple posts I've made, but I haven't been truly inspired by anything lately. I blame it on school, but my real problem is time management. I know how to manage my time- I just choose not to. This is another thing I need to work on...
Now I have even better news: I dyed my (part) of my hair! It was originally going to be pink, but I didn't have enough, so I went with a purple/blue-ish color, and I also put some temporary pink in. It's not what I wanted, but I still LOVE it!
So I went to the dance with some friends last night, and I made a huge mistake. The decorations were sooo cool, and some of the bratty teenagers looked really great, but the music just dragged it down. On the bright side I was the most bitchin' wallflower my school has ever seen. The crappy music reminded me of this band I've recently discovered that does covers of modern tunes and puts a vintage twist on them. Whether it's a doo-wop Miley Cyrus song or a 1920s take on that song everyone hates, but loves to sing (I'm referring to: Call Me Maybe). If there was music like this or a live band I would've like the dance a lot better, but alas it was the usual teenage pop music. But hey AT LEAST I tried.

What about you guys? What's your favorite high school dance memory?

please go away, don't bother me

hair bow: Payless (years ago), sweater: Forever21, necklace: Kohl's, top: Goodwill, skirt: thrifted, socks: Target, shoes: Forever21
I actually wore this during the first week of school, and I'm just now getting around to sharing it. #oops This is probably one of my favorite outfits I've ever worn, because there's so many prints and colors, and it just makes me really happy when I wear it and look at it. So far this week has been really interesting (and it's only Tuesday), and I can't decide if it's in a good or bad way. I've been having a lot of issues with other students touching me, whether it's my hair (on my head AND my arms wtf people), my personal belongings, or my clothing, and I am so sick of it. What do people not get about personal bubbles? Like, if I don't ask you to touch me, just don't touch me. It's REALLY simple, is it not? Besides people invading my space, I've also been dealing with teenagers with negative attitudes. Look, I get it, I hate school too, but we are stuck here so let's just make the best of it, and not be so nasty. I've also been struggling, because I think I like this boy, but I'm really not sure. How can you tell anyways? The movies make it look so easy, I always figured you're just supposed to know when it happens...maybe it just hasn't happened yet. Just remember, high school can't last forever, and it only gets better when you graduate (I think). I am just so gosh darn thankful that this is my last year of high school, and I wish it was over already. On the bright side I'm going to the Homecoming dance with some friends, and I found the cutest Pretty in Pink styled dress! I'll have the pictures up in a couple of weeks (because the dance is near the end of the month).

I technically didn't go school clothes shopping, so I was lucky enough to get these few pieces to make up for that! Recently I realized I have a shoe problem. When I get rid of a pair of shoes I end up buying three new pairs. I like to think my logic works, because I love shoes so much, but I've come to terms that this is a problem.

Recently I've been really attracted to black and white photos from the 1950s and earlier. Since there are no colors to capture your attention, the picture almost looks timeless and sort of ominous. Maybe I'm so enthralled by this style lately, because I've been feeling sort of monotonous due to school, and the same old routine. I've realized I'm stuck in a foxhole, and I just need to find my way out. I've got half of my body out of the foxhole, and I know I just need to pull up the rest out and make the best of everything. Even though these photos are a bit ominous, they also have a sort of innocence to them. I think old photos tell you anything you want to hear, it just depends on your current mood. To get in a better mood I'm probably going to binge watch New Girl season 2 and Sex in the City, because Carrie and Jess always make me feel better.
What do you cool cats do when you're stuck in a rut?

lipstick & diamonds & champagne & rock&roll

blouse: vintage, dress: sister's, Twin Peaks pin: the Pulp Girls, necklace: gift, leggings: DSW, shoes: DSW
I've recently got the Style.com app to keep myself entertained during school, and it's been ruining my life. All of the Ready-To-Wear collections from NYFW are avaliable to view, and I can't find words to describe my love for some of these designers. My two favorites this year is Betsey Johnson and Libertine, because they stuck out the most to me. If I had all the money in the world these would be the two collections I'd spend it on. Since I don't have all of the money in the world (awww) I've made due with Betsey's clearance items at JCPenny and DSW. The leggings I'm wearing above are hers, and they were the last ones left, in my size, AND ONLY $7!

I was so surprised when I first saw Betsey's new collection. For the first time it was all about the clothing. When I say that I mean she didn't have any models using champagne bottles as weights or anything like that. At first I was saddened by that factor, but then I started listening to the music she chose. Yet again I was surprised by Queen Betsey, because she choice music from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack! Although there were no theatrics in her show, I was so pleased with her new designs (especially the tulle dresses!), silver lipstick, pink wigs, and silver plated "BETSEY" necklaces. Once again Betsey Johnson has outdone herself.

I found this collection accidentally, and I am in awe. I've never heard of this designer, but I can't even began to describe my love for this collection. It's so funky with all of the embellishments (that look like cute rub-on tattoos), phrases, and cohesive eye make-up. I found it interesting that all of the hairstyles were very simple, but it really brought the looks together, and made them perfect. All of the looks are waiting to be worn at a punk rock ball hosted by Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, and the Ramones. I would do anything to get my hands on one of the embellished jackets and capes I'm not even kidding. There's just enough pa-zazz on everything to where it's tacky, but in a good way.

Hope everyone has had a fabulous Monday!

it's not called intermission

~outfit details~

Friday I went to a football game at my school, and it was actually really fun (I mean I didn't really watch the game, but still). Before the game the theatre gang had a tailgating party, and ate lots of food, played corn-hole, Frisbee, and multiple other American classics. I haven't been outdoors for such a long period of time in a long time, and the heat was the only thing that really sucked, because it was super humid and just gross. On the bright side, you can feel the seasons changing (it's changing REALLY slow, but it's still changing), and I'm just so excited for fall and winter this year. Unfortunately, nothing much has really happened to me this week, because of school, but I have a couple of posts lined up (that are over-due anyways). I wanted to post them sooner, but when I get home from school I am soooo exhausted. My goal is to have one post a day for the next three or four days (let's just hope I actually do it). Less about me, how has all you cool cats' weeks been?
