nothing to get hung about, strawberry fields forever

Everything vintage or thrifted (surprise) besides the hairband: walgreens, sunglasses: Halloween store
Unfortunately I'm without an actual camera right now, so I'll have to make due with my phone camera. So this post is kind of a mash-up of my week from my phone. I'm really stoked, because fall is coming QUICK. The weather in Texas doesn't show it, but the fashion trends, Halloween decorations going on sale, and the vibes I've been digging from other babes' blogs. I'm currently re-reading the Virgin Suicides, and I forgot how beautiful it is written. Although the story is rather depressing, Eugenides uses such eloquent words it makes you forget the depression the Lisbon girls are going through. To me, it's the perfect ~fall vibes~ book, because although it's written so beautifully, there's still a solemn feel to it. I've always felt sort of solemn or more introvert during fall, and I think it's because everything is suddenly changing. Not only the weather, but people, academic things, and a million other things I'm forgetting.

The other day my mom and I went to a festival in a neighboring town and also met a few friends. We only went to see our favorite Beatles tribute band, The Fab 5, but we ended up running into one of her friends, Dana, who sells vintage clothing out of a trailer! All and all it was a fabulous evening, and I ended up getting a super cute dress (see first photo in post). Unfortunately it was really humid and rainy throughout the day, but everything else made it up.

Dana is probably one of the coolest babes I've met in a long time! Her shop is called A Hippy Heart Vintage, and it's truly some of the coolest vintage pieces I've ever laid eyes on. Naturally I wanted to buy EVERYTHING, but I could only get one thing. I decided on this 1960's lounge dress, and I seriously want to live in it. You can dress it up with a belt and sweater OR USE IT AS SLEEPWEAR. This is definitely my new favorite dress without a doubt. And most importantly it's in really good shape (there's one little flaw, but it just needs a little love and care aka a needle and thread)!!

Luckily I just got my camera back so I'll be having another post up this week! I got a bunch of cute new things, and I can't wait to share it with you cool cats~

dear mr. vernon...

This past week was my first week back to school, and believe it or not- it wasn't too bad. Cass has been hanging out for the long weekend, and we both had the idea of a back-to-school-solemn-fall-vibes photo shoot. Unfortunately it was WAY TOO HOT to take any photos outside, but we made do with what we had. Hopefully we will take the planned photos when it cools off (if it ever does). Any who I hope everyone has had a good time getting back to school, and I hope it stays that way! That's what always concerns me most- is the school year going to be this great all year? Probably not, but it's time to make the best of it. I plan on making a difference at my school this year, and I just hope I don't get shut down, and people stand behind me (dress code and bullying is the biggest issue that needs a resolution at my school). Below I have a few inspo photos that represent tiredness, teenagers, etc. and also my latest playlist @The Pulp Zine! (all photos from tumblr unless stated otherwise)

"she lives in the place in the side of our lives where nothing is ever put straight,"

hat: vintage, blouse: JCPenny, vest: thrifted, blazer: idek I've have it forever, jeans: UO (similar), leg warmers: gift, shoes: UO (similar), bolo tie: Dad's, "Hot Mess" pin: UO
My outfit today was inspired by Pretty in Pink, because I've been watching that movie almost every night this week, and I just want a Duckie Dale in my life. That movie gives me so much reassurance for school even though it's fictional. I can identify with Andie (and Duckie) soooo much, and I know that's what John Hughes was hoping for when he wrote the script and characters. And have I ever mentioned how FABULOUS that soundtrack is?! It's just so great, any the title of this post is lyrics from the Psychedelic Furs' song Pretty in Pink. Eighties new wave music is so great, and it's really helped me get that back to school positivity flowing in my veins. I apologize for all of the selfies in this post, but I just felt so photogenic and pretty today so whatever~ ALSO I did not wear my hat to school, contrary to every high school movie ever made, you can't wear hats at high school (at least in America unless it's part of uniform).
One of my amazing theatre teachers got me this pop-art clutch for my birthday!! Grandma brooch: Goodwill, misc pinbacks: Etsy
I've been inspired to make a Ryan Gosling shrine, because Cass got me the AMAZING Feminist Ryan Gosling book, and made me a perfect prayer candle with lots of little Rygosling's mod podge on it.
So a while ago, I mentioned I was going to be a part of the Do Not Enter Diaries, and here's my finished video! Unfortunately the camera I used was being a total butthole so it's mediocre quality, but I'm proud nevertheless. And next week Lindsay's video is going up so stay tuned for that! In the meantime I seriously recommend watching the other teenagers @DNED, because all of the rooms and stories are truly amazing.
So today was my second day of my senior year in high school, and it's not too bad! I'm mostly in level classes so the work won't over stress me like it did last year, plus I can concentrate more on college, AP German IV, and French. Tomorrow I'm trying out for the school play, and at first I wasn't excited at all. But then I found out it was going to be a melodrama, and I am a SUCKER for that genre. Hopefully I'll get a part, but if I don't it's no big deal. I will be more than happy to be in crew.
On the last note, a super amazing site has asked me to make a post about their new collection, so look forward to that (because I sure am)!
How's school going for everyone else?

s'more of what?

As you can tell from the pictures above, I've gotten a new haircut! It's the same, but different (if that makes any sense), and I'm just really happy with it. PLUS it looks even more amazing when it's a curly jungle. I told my hairdresser/good old pal I wanted a mix between Wanda from Cry Baby, Pattie Boyd, and Lady Gaga, and she couldn't have done a better job! (and I also got some new detangle spray woohoo)
I'm feeling really strange today, because it's the last day of summer. The only thing I regret this past summer is that I didn't go to the beach or do anything along the lines of college planning. I know everything will be falling into place (because that's how the universe works), so I'm not too worried about anything. Since it's the last day before school starts, I've tried to keep stress-free and for most of the day I was successful- plus it was well overdue. The more I think about it I'm sort of okay with school starting back, because that just means I'm one year closer to actually starting my life! (aka college, moving out, scary adult stuff) I'd love to know everyone's thoughts on back to school, too. Feel free to drop a comment about what you're looking forward to and what you're dreading for school this year (It's totally okay if there's more dreading, because I'm right there with you). I watched Pretty in Pink last night, and it was so inspiring (like it always is), and hopefully I'll find my Duckie and Blaine this year (and maybe even go to prom what whaaat)! I've pulled together some photos and tunes that are perfect for those final summer days- so enjoy~

Last night I went to the Funny Or Die Oddball Comedy Tour with my dad, and it was soooo amazing!! My favorites were Kristen Schaal, Demetri Martin, and Flight of the Conchords. Usually I don't wear t-shirts, let alone pay $30 for one, but I couldn't pass up this PERFECT FOTC shirt!
