no one likes seeing other people win awards

So the other night was senior awards night. It was so fun seeing a bunch of people I hate get full ride scholarships plus an extra $30,000. *cue sarcasm* On the bright side, I got a $500 scholarship from the school...so I guess it's better than nothing (even though in the college world 500 is virtually nothing). Besides that there hasn't been anything new with me. Same old feeling at the pit of my stomach, because I am SO READY to get out of high school. (LESS THAN ONE WEEK LEFT) I'm very excited, because I've almost got 300 likes on my Facebook page AND my dad and I have agreed amongst each other that we want to start specializing in 50s & 60s goods rather than odds and ends from all eras (unless it's something really special). When summer starts we plan on going on more picks in rural areas a bit closer to Austin (AKA where all da good stuff is at). The only other new thing I have to share is my current favorite blog to read! ColeyKitsch is this super, amazing blog that contains all of my current inspiration in one spot! Below is just a sneak of what amazing photos she holds within her URL.

Totally off topic but, I'm really happy with my new tumblr theme!

Leave a comment below sharing your current fav blogs and tell me how you've been lately! (PS once I graduate I will have WAYYY more time to post on this blog)

just shut up and enjoy this

Things have been crazy lately! I've been scrambling trying to study for finals, taking care of last minute senior stuff (I graduated in less than TWO WEEKS!!!), working my butt off at Old Navy & the antique mall, and much more. Luckily I got to take a break from the stress overload by joining some of my theatre company and directors in Austin to watch the OAP UIL State plays. In a nutshell, most of the plays were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, and I fall in love with cute actors way too easily. When we weren't watching plays we were enjoying the city. My favorite part (besides the 16 plays we watched) was chilling at Graffitti Park. I always see photos of the place, and have passed it a million times, so I jumped at the opportunity to go! The park is so magical and dreamy and makes me feel like I'm in a real-life cartoon (woah oxymoron much?).
If you couldn't tell from the first picture, I have dyed my hair! It's now a copper color with hot pink ends AKA MY DREAM HAIR! (I am so grateful any colored hair is allowed at work.)
My new life motto.
We also went hiking! The weather was absolutely perfect, and it is surprisingly very comfortable to wear jellies while hiking. This trip just reminded me how excited I am to move to San Marcos (which is a half hour away from Austin) for college. But this trip has left my sense of time out of whack. I keep thinking today is Sunday. Then I keep getting excited for a new episode of Mad Men, but then I remember it's Wednesday... Don't you hate when that happens?!

fashion suicide

In case some of you didn't know this, Sephora is the most magical place on Earth. It has made me fall in love with the NYX brand (especially all of their glitter products), Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume, and most importantly- appreciate lip stain. For as long as I can remember I have been dying for the perfect red lipstick that actually stays on. Low and behold: Always Red Cream Lip Stain by Sephora. I am still in shock how well this stuff stays on! The other day I put it on at 6AM and I only had to reapply it 3 or 4 times throughout the day (all the way until 10PM). It's a little more than I usually pay for lip stuff, but at $13 it is totally worth it.

I couldn't escape my senior year without attending prom! I knew for sure I didn't want to go to mine (one of my friend's asked me today and I felt so bad saying no...but like, no), and I was lucky enough that L.M. Strange invited me to hers. It was a very surreal night overall. I ended up not dancing at all, but I spent my time eating all the food and drinking all the coffee whilst chilling with some buds. Prom isn't anything like John Hughes makes it out to be, but I'm glad I went~
As you might have noticed, my blog title is a little "WHOA DUDE." I always struggle with names for posts, but I actually came up with this one immediately, so I decided to stick with it. The backstory behind the title, is my adorable, new sandals. Yes, on the surface they are super fun and colorful, but I hold a dark secret below the soles of my feet. I say this, because my sandals are really DUN DUN DUNNN Crocs. I know what you're thinking, and I can't believe it either! These are actually the comfiest shoes I have ever purchased, and are just super perfect. (10/10 do recommend)
♪Little Girls, Little Girls, everywhere I turn I can see them♪
This evening was my last high school theatre banquet. Our theme was musical and you are required to dress up- so I went for the good ol' Miss Hannigan from Annie. (I conveniently had all these pieces) The banquet itself was really great in retrospect. It made me remember all of my good and bad moments with this company. We gave cute, little awards to everyone who was involved with the three shows this year, and then the seniors made their goodbye speeches. The most surprising moment was when my director was awarding "All Star Senior." I didn't expect it AT ALL, but she ended up calling my name and I am truly honored she picked me out of all the amazing seniors we have! This was one of those things, that makes me want to miss high school, but I know I am bound for bigger and better things!!!

Speaking of ready to leave, I HAVE TWO WEEKS LEFT OF HIGH SCHOOL!?!? Crazy, I know, but I have been waiting for this moment since I walked into the doors of high school. I have a feeling these two weeks will go by really slow since I'm counting down, and it's leaving me in a weird, limbo-ish state. I'm honestly not sure how to describe it, so I made a playlist expounding my emotions.

How many weeks of school do YOU have left?? Are you as excited as I am?!

sometimes i think im living a dream

♥ DIY pom-pom crown ♥ vintage nightie worn as a dress Forever21 tights, Betsey Johnson/thrifted/DIY bracelets
Okay, wow, HEY EVERYBODY! For the past few weeks my mind has been 20% Old Navy, 10% worrying about school, and 70% Pop shop. This past weekend was the big event, and although I'm sad it is over with, I am also relieved (and really, really tired). I can't even begin to describe how wonderful and magically the whole weekend was. I met some really amazing vendors and customers, and ugh, it was just perfect! This event really gave me hope for my business. I always doubt myself, because I don't sell that much vintage clothing in my booth, but slowly and surely it is catching on! It makes me so happy that there are young people appreciating the same things I do. I decided to bring a lot of things I've made, too (flower crowns, pom-pom crowns, pins, etc.), AND PEOPLE LOVED IT! (which was the most surprising tbh).
The big face pins are the newest product for the Mad Mod Shop. I did them as an experiment, but holy crap I completely sold out the first day!
Vida Antiqua & Sal Miel were my neighbors and they were so freaking groovy!
F is For Frank had some BEAUTIFUL jewelry and I seriously regret not getting anything from her!
Anitantique Vintage had the most amazing pieces from the 1950s and 60s. I had to psychically stop myself from buying all of her vintage lingerie, flower enamel pins, and purses.
Okay, so Bearmojo is literally the coolest shop ever. These furry friends are made by life-long couple, Andrea and Todd, who are also the cooliest. I ended up buying a wallet from them (HOW COULD I NOT RESIST?! I named him Alfonso, awww), and talking about Michigan's love for guns, Jack White, taxidermy, and many other things. It's a shame they live in Indiana!!
Cat Lady Crafts was also a super babe! She bought my Elvis "Maneater" denim vest from me as well as the Elvis face pin (she really loves Elvis and it's adorable).
Heather from Lone Star Vintage was definitely one of my favs. Not only did she trade me a bitchin' psychedelic maxi dress for a pom-pom crown, but we talked about vintage clothing throughout the whole weekend!
Nothing But A Pigeon is kind of a bad ass if you haven't already noticed. She takes taxidermy to an all new level by making it cruelty-free with the magic of yarn! This was one of those vendors where I had to physically stop myself from buying EVERYTHING. But I do plan on getting a custom order from her sometime soon for my log lady cosplay (more details soon!).
The best customer in the world // my outfit 2nd day (I was sort of a hot mess day 2 so there's not a lot of photos of me haha)
Alfonso!
